CESC adds 1.15 lakh new customers in 2013-14

Kolkata: Private sector power utility CESC has added 1.15 lakh new consumers in 2013-14, which is 4.2 percent higher than the previous fiscal.

At the end of 2013-14, its total consumers were 28.17 lakh.

The highest number of new connections in FY?14 was in Howrah (15.8 percent), followed by Serampore area (13.37 percent and Kolkata South West district 10.26 percent.

CESC sources said the company has able to reduce the average time taken for providing new connections to 12 days against 14 days in 2012-13.

"It will be our endeavour to bring down further the time taken for new connections during the current year beginning 1 April, 2014," CESC Managing Director Aniruddha Basu said.
