Copper futures fall on weak global cues, subdued demand

New Delhi: Copper prices fell by 0.64 percent to Rs 385.25 per kg in futures trade Wednesday on speculators reducing their positions amidst weak global cues.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, copper for delivery in April fell by Rs 2.50, or 0.64 percent, to Rs 385.25 per kg in a business turnover of 1110 lots.

Similarly, the metal for delivery in June was down by Rs 2.30, or 0.59 percent, to Rs 390.05 per kg in 8 lots.

Analysts said subdued demand in the spot markets put pressure on the prices of the metal.

Meanwhile, copper for delivery in three months dropped 0.5 percent to USD 6,114 per tonne at the London Metal Exchange, while in Shanghai, metal for delivery in May fell 0.5 percent to 43,650 yuan (USD 7,032) per tonne.
