New Delhi: The upcoming film 'Udta Punjab' has reportedly got into trouble with the Censor Board of Film Certification (CBFC) on Thursday. The film is based on how substance abuse in the state of Punjab has affected its youth.

According to TOI.com, the CBFC has held back its certification over abusive dialogues. The film shows how drugs enters into the heart of the country and destroys the future. Shahid plays a young and happening rockstar in the film, who finds himself embroiled in substance abuse.

The report states that Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) had previously objected to the film, over misrepresentation of Punjabis. The film is set to release on June 17, 2016.

A senior CBFC official was quoted in the report saying, “We have just held back the certification. The film producers have the option to move Film Certification Appellate Tribunal (FCAT). It is only about certain exple tives and nothing more”.
