Twitter blocks jailed Ram Rahim's account in India

New Delhi: The Twitter account of jailed rape convict Dera chief Gurmeet Ram Rahim has been "withheld" in India, a media report said.

The move will prevent Dera followers from accessing his account or see his tweets in India, the Times of India reported.

The restriction is not applicable for followers abroad. He reportedly has over 3.6 million Twitter followers.

His Facebook page has over 7.5 lakh "likes", the report said.

The account has been blocked on the request of the Haryana Police. His other social media accounts would also be blocked.

Ram Rahim was sentenced to 20 years of rigorous imprisonment last week for raping his two disciples.
