Moscow, Aug 28: Just days after the sinking of the nuclear submarine, the Kursk, in Barents Sea, which killed 118 sailors, Russia has a new crisis to contend with: a blazing TV tower.
Four persons are believed to be trapped in the blazing Ostankino TV tower in Moscow. The tower has been burning since Sunday. Firefighters fighting the blaze have been successful to an extent in containing the blaze, believed to have been caused by a short circuit.

The Ostankino tower is the world’s second largest TV tower, and at 1,772 feet, is almost twice the height of the Eiffel Tower. Completed in 1967, it was the world's highest tower until Toronto's CN Tower was constructed.

While some accounts said four people — three firemen and a lift operator — were trapped, some other reports said only a fireman and a woman lift operator were trapped.
