AP to eradicate child labour

Andhra Pradesh Government would take all necessary steps to eradicate child labour in the state by creating awareness among people as well as focus on their rehabilitation.

Hyderabad, Oct 09: Andhra Pradesh Government would
take all necessary steps to eradicate child labour in the
state by creating awareness among people as well as focus on
their rehabilitation.

"We will launch a publicity campaign on a massive scale
and involve various NGOs and other voluntary organisations to
implement the Child Labour (Prohibition And Regulation) Act",
state labour minister G Vinod told reporters here today.

The state has about 16 lakh child labourers working in
various sectors, with hospitality (hotels and tourist spots)
and domestic sectors employing a majority of them, he said.

"Besides creating awareness through campaign and
explaining the rights of a child, we will also focus on the
rehabilitation programme," he said.
