Bansal calls on forwards to give their best against Pakistan

India coach A K Bansal on Tuesday urged his forward line to push up the standard of their game by a few notches to be able to beat Pakistan in the semifinals of sixth junior Asia cup hockey tournament here on Wednesday.

Hyderabad, July 15: India coach A K Bansal on Tuesday urged his forward line to push up the standard of their game by a few notches to be able to beat Pakistan in the semifinals of sixth junior Asia cup hockey tournament here on Wednesday.
Bansal said forward players were doing a good job but against Pakistan they have to do something different, if they harbour hopes of making the summit clash.

"Though the forward line consisting of Sunil S V and Gurwinder Singh Chandi are playing well, they have to rise to their potential against Pakistan. If they want to do something, they have to improve their play in the match against Pakistan," bansal said.

The Indian coach also said he would adopt a different strategy for the last four encounter.

"We are preparing for the big game for which we have some different planning compared to the earlier matches. We have specific things to work on for this particular match."

The coach praised Sunil but said he was not satisfied with the team's overall performance.

"He (Sunil) is creating a lot of chances for others to score and that is his style. But I must say that the boys are doing some mistakes during the attacks and hence are unable to convert their efforts into goals," he said.

He revealed India was grooming innocent Kullu as a penalty corner specialist to minimise pressure on drag-flicker Diwakar Ram.
