High Court serves notice to Jharkhand IG

Jharkhand High Court has directed Inspector-General of Police, South Chhotanagpur Range, D K Pande and other investigating officers to appear before the court on October 13 in connection with MLA Bhanu Pratap Sahi's pending warrants of arrests.

court on October 13 in connection with MLA Bhanu Pratap Sahi's
pending warrants of arrests.

Taking suo motu cognizance of the matter, a division
bench headed by Chief Justice Muthusamy Karpagavinayagam
yesterday questioned the IG's alleged initiation in staying
the execution of the warrants issued against Sahi by a
district court.

The court asked the IG and other investigating officers
to appear personally and file separate affidavits.

The police had recently prayed before a court in Garwah
requesting withdrawal of the three warrants of arrest against
Sahi.

Sahi, an accused in 14 cases, was twice denied a cabinet
berth following the pending warrants.
