Indian paddlers may soon get a European coach

The Table Tennis Federation of India (TTFI) is looking for another "good" European candidate to assist the incumbent national coach Belarussian Aleksey Yefremov for intensive training to the paddlers in the large country.

New Delhi, July 15: The Table Tennis Federation of India (TTFI) is looking for another "good" European candidate to assist the incumbent national coach Belarussian Aleksey Yefremov for intensive training to the paddlers in the large country.
TTFI Secretary D R Choudhary told that the Federation would hold a meeting with the Sports Authority of India (SAI) and Sports Ministry representatives later this month to finalise the proposal.

"We have requested Yefremov to recommend names of some good coaches from European countries. The appointment will certainly make it easier for us to conduct training camps round the year and tracing out the talents much more effectively as well," Choudhary insisted.

Yefremov, who was appointed earlier in the year after being recommended by the International Table Tennis Federation (ITTF), has already promised the TTFI to recommend some good coaches from European table tennis circuit, who will "share the responsibilities effectively." "We must invite one European coach, who I think, could play very important role in nurturing the talents available in the country," Yefremov said.

"In a big country like India, an additional coach is always helpful in bringing higher number of talented youngsters under the training programme, and thus giving them better opportunities," Yefremov said.
