Abhishek Dutta wanted to support the cause of the girl child but it all came to an irony of sorts as his one year old toddler stumbled on the runway and fell off it. Poor baby…But that didn’t make the designs look bad.

Titled Third Wave, Dutta’s men`s and women`s wear was heavily embellished, very ornate and glitzy with prints. Hand embroidery, digital large prints depicting women in all their glory, along with artistic motifs; gave the creations a fusion look.

Nachiket Barve`s collection titled Zoom In Zoom was a brilliant display of garments that had intricate fabric manipulation and muted dark colours. Fabrics and embellishments played a creative game as matte and shine as well as rough and smooth blended effortlessly with icy pastels and twinkling silver highlights.

Stunners in the collection were the textured silk velvet yoke for the Dupion silk coat, and a stylish rose cutwork double breasted coat.

Working around a rich colour palette of scarlet, black, emerald, chestnut, blue, grey, yellow and sapphire, Urvashi Kaur`s collection was one of grace, glamour and sensuous glitter.

Pretty as a picture for those luxurious formal evenings, the collection had winners like the grey satin knee length dress with puff sleeves and emerald satin pleated and tiered mini dress.

Abdul Halder`s collection was one of controlled styling and silhouettes that remained close to the body with lengths which were long and short for both men`s and women`s wear. Working with his favourite detailing - pleating and pin tucks he added on pigment surfaces with touches of glitter on strategic areas like shoulders, sleeves, yokes and neck. The fabric story was rugged for both the sexes as jute linen, line, cymore, faux fur and poly silk formed the base for the sharply cut jackets, dresses, pants, skirts and tunics. A striking entry was a one button ladies tailcoat and tight pants.

Shyamal and Bhumika’s collection was a luxuriously opulent collection featuring velvets, crepe, silk, georgette, brocade, khadi, silk Lurex and organic denim. Sequined tops, waistcoats, shocking pinks and purples with a lot of embroidery over bling and brocade.

Bollywood too made a grand appearance with Kelly Dorjee walking the ramp for Nandita Mahtani. Actor Rahul Bose, Ritesh Deshmukh and Suchitra Pillai were seated in the front row, adding more glamour to the show.

Nandita`s creations were an international mix of colour and themes. The collection titled `Life is a Journey` was of the fashionable kind with a combination of African, French, Moroccan and Turkish touches in georgette, chiffon, wool, knit, drill, tweed with hints of crochet.

Feminine layered dresses, flowing minis, sexy gowns, high waist skirts; and luxuriously flared trousers recreated the retro look. For men`s wear Nandita kept it simple and stylish with blazers, pants, jackets, shirts and sweaters in stretch denim, suede, drill and silk with ethnic touches like tie and dye effect and Indian embroidery.

Commenting on her line, Mahtani said: “My collection was inspired by tribal Africa, Morocco, France and India. Basically it is a classic collection but with a little bit of twist and turns.”
