Theft at MP's residence in high-security Lutyens Delhi

A man broke into the residence of Samajwadi Party Lok Sabha MP Rashid Masood in a high-security locality in Lutyens Delhi in an abortive theft attempt.

New Delhi, Oct 10: A man broke into the residence of
Samajwadi Party Lok Sabha MP Rashid Masood in a high-security
locality in Lutyens Delhi in an abortive theft attempt.

He broke open a room of the servants quarters at Masood's
residence on Bishambar Das Marg here last night and tried to
decamp with Rs 10,000.

According to the MP's Secretary J K Sharma, a driver
found early in the morning that the room was open and the lock
of an almirah broken with the cash missing.

The household staff found the man, identified as Kapil,
in an inebriated state in the room. The 19-year-old vagabond
was handed over to the police, Sharma added.

He has been arrested and booked on charges of theft and
forced entry.

Masood represents Saharanpur seat in the Lok Sabha.
