Ulfa calls upper Assam district bandh

The banned Ulfa has called for
a day-long Assam`s Sibsagar district bandh on Monday to protest
the killing of one of its members.

The Ulfa gave the bandh call to protest the killing of
"corporal" Debojit on October six.

The call for the bandh was given to reporters here
over telephone by Ankur Sarma, an Ulfa cadre, following "an
order" from the "executive commanding officer" of the 28
battalion Prabal Neog.

The police have tightened security measures throughout
the district, regarded as a Ulfa stronghold, in view of the
bandh.
