Mumbai: The Centre has allocated Rs. 5,000 crore for the growth of Department of AYUSH (Ayurveda, Yoga and Naturopathy, Unani, Siddha and Homoeopathy) and has launched an independent National AYUSH Mission, which aims at capacity building for the sector.

Minister of State (Independent Charge) for AYUSH Sripad Yesso Naik, at a function here, said that his Ministry is considering the observation of an `Ayurveda Day` for creating awareness about Ayurveda.

Naik further said that though India and China both use a large number of medicinal plants, traditional Chinese medicines have seen easy acceptance across the globe, while Indian Ayurvedic medicines are yet to gain global acceptance.

He, however, noted that Ayurvedic medicines have seen a 25 percent rise in sales over the past ten years.
