Congress cries foul, says decision to suspend 25 MPs 'one-sided'

The Congress on Monday dubbed Lok Sabha speaker Sumitra Mahajan`s decision to suspend 25 lawmakers of the opposition party as `harsh and one-sided.`

New Delhi: The Congress on Monday dubbed Lok Sabha speaker Sumitra Mahajan`s decision to suspend 25 lawmakers of the opposition party as `harsh and one-sided.`

Congress MP Ninong Ering said, "The Speaker accused us of showing placards and making noise whereas nothing as such was visible on the Lok Sabha TV. I don`t agree with speaker`s orders. In fact, it is a very harsh and one sided decision."

He further said that all the suspended MPs will protest in front of the Parliament for the next five days.

According to reports, Mahajan had named around 25 to 27 Congress MPs as `disruptors`.

She has suspended them under ruling 374 (A).

The lawmakers, who have been suspended, include Gaurav Gogoi, Sushmita Dev, Deepender Hooda, Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury, BN Chandrappa, Abhijit Mukherjee, Santokh Chaudhary, Abu Hasem Khan Choudhury, R Dhruvanarayana, Ninong Ering, BV Nayak and Suresh Kodikunnil.

Meanwhile, the Lok Sabha has been adjourned till 11 am Tuesday following frequent disruption by the opposition parties.
