Bengaluru: Grammy-award winner Ricky Kej has paid a moving tribute to IAS officer DK Ravi, who died under mysterious circumstances, by dedicating to him a heart-touching Kannada song.

In his presentation, Kej has reflected Mahatma Gandhi's principle "Be the change you want to see" in a highly emotional and passionate way, referring to the circumstances under which an honest IAS officer worked and performed his duty, with courage and boldness.

The moving lyrics "Tummbu prati manasali hosa hosa bannavaa" (Fill every heart with new colours) has been penned by lyricist Kaviraj, Kej, who shot into fame for winning the best new age album "Winds of Samsara" at the 57th Grammy Awards, said.

The lyrics suited the character of Ravi, who was an honest and courageous administrator, Kej told PTI.

"The lyrics (for the song) were written by Kaviraj in 2009 for me when I was working with him in a Kannada film. I recorded the music then, but placed it before the people today," Kej said.

The music composition is also being released on video sharing site 'youtube'.

Kej expressed hope that justice would be done to Ravi through an impartial probe to keep people's faith intact on government and its agencies.

"There has to be an independent inquiry into Ravi's death and bring the truth out. Otherwise, people will lose faith in the public administration and the government," he said.

Ravi was found hanging at his flat here on March 16, with police suspecting it to be prima facie a case of suicide but rejecting the angle his family and opposition political parties are pressing for a CBI probe.
