If Cong, BJP don`t get majority, Pawar can be PM: NCP

Maharashtra Finance Minister Dilip Walse-Patil said that NCP president Sharad Pawar`s chances of becoming Prime Minister will brighten if Congress and BJP do not get a majority after the Lok Sabha election results are declared.

Mumbai, May 11: Maharashtra Finance Minister Dilip Walse-Patil on Monday said that NCP president Sharad Pawar`s chances of becoming Prime Minister will brighten if Congress and BJP do not get a majority after the Lok Sabha election results are declared.
"If BJP and Congress do not get the required numbers to form the next government, Pawar has good chances of becoming the next Prime Minister," Walse-Patil, a close
associate of the Maratha strongman told reporters here.

He said NCP was prepared to contest the Assembly elections scheduled later this year on its own if the Congress continues to level charges of non co-operation against his party and threatens to go alone in the Assembly polls.

Earlier, Walse-Patil attended a meeting to discuss the pending irrigation projects in Madha Lok Sabha constituency in Solapur district, where Pawar contested the LS election.
