UPA not doing enough to curb terrorism: Rajnath

BJP President on Sunday said his party`s stand that Pakistan is a centre of terror has been vindicated by its President Asif Ali Zardari and accused the UPA government of not taking decisive steps to curb terrorism.

New Delhi, July 12: BJP President Rajnath Singh
on Sunday said his party`s stand that Pakistan is a centre of
terror has been vindicated by its President Asif Ali Zardari
and accused the UPA government of not taking decisive steps to
curb terrorism during its previous tenure.

"The UPA government did not take decisive steps to control
terror activities in the country during its previous tenure.

"BJP has always said Pakistan is a centre of terrorism.
Now, our stand has been vindicated by Pakistan President Asif
Ali Zardari`s recent statement where he accepted that
terrorists were nurtured by his country," Singh said while
inaugurating a Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha meeting here.

During an interactive meeting with former civil servants
on Tuesday in Islamabad, Zardari had said, "They (militants
and extremists) were deliberately created and nurtured as a
policy to achieve some short-term tactical objectives."

Following Zardari`s "candid admission", Singh said India
must now ask Pakistan that it should hand over perpetrators of
the Mumbai terror attacks. "Only then the peace negotiations
can resume," he said stressing that the UPA government in its
earlier tenure had not put enough pressure on Pakistan.

The BJP leader said despite uneasy relations between the
two countries, India would never want Pakistan to disintegrate
and would only wish that peace prevails there so that the
entire region can prosper.
