Trapped in Saudi Arabia, Ludhiana woman pleads Sushma Swaraj for help

Ludhiana: The family of a 50-year-old Ludhiana resident, who had been allegedly enslaved in Saudi Arabia, has knocked on the doors of External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj to bring her back to India.

"My mother is in a bad state. Her employers, a Saudi couple, trapped her in Dubai for the past six months. They have been ill-treating her. I request External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj to bring her back to India," victim Kuldeep Kaur's daughter Sonia was quoted as saying by ANI.

The matter came to light after Kaur sent a video message to her daughter claiming that she has been forced by the couple to work as a servant.

In the video, Kuldeep is seen crying and claiming that she was duped by a travel agent, who took her to Saudi Arabia.

The victim lamented that she is food deprived and requested the Indian authorities to rescue her.

Sonia has urged the police to register a case against the accused travel agent.

EAM Swaraj, who is known for going an extra mile to help people in their testing times, has in past rescued many Indians trapped in unfavourable circumstances abroad.
