Frustrated Freddie throws bat after damp net-session

Georgetown (Guyana), March 30: The World Cup keeps getting miserable for Andrew Flintoff and even a routine net-session left the England all-rounder fuming as he flung his bat in disgust after struggling to practice in damp conditions.

Stripped of vice-captaincy after a drunken night-out and struggling with his form, Flintoff decided to do some batting practice at the providence stadium yesterday.

However, the talismanic player found it tough to face a trio of Guyanan bowlers in damp conditions and threw his bat in anger after facing just two balls, which came dangerously
close to hurting him.

The bat landed 10 meters into the side netting and Flintoff chose to do some bowling practice instead after a stomach ailment the previous day denied him net sessions.

Skipper Michael Vaughan sought to downplay Flintoff`s frustration and said all was fine with his star player.

"Fred wasn`t too well yesterday but today he is fit and firing. The weather has caused a few problems with the practice facilities but otherwise we are in good shape," he as quoted as saying.
